The end of summer and start of fall 2026 have exciting news for the CAHS. We have a new e-newsletter (eNL) editor! Ania Pazik (from the Carleton University School of Journalism and Communication) will be working with our webmaster Andrea Wiseman while she gets up to speed and takes over all our eNL duties. I am very excited to have Ania on board and look forward to her involvement and contributions to our group. Please welcome our newest members to our Board of Directors, Dr Bruce Lockhart (President of the CAHS New Brunswick Chapter) and Brian Gilchrist (Treasurer of the CAHS Manitoba Chapter). I thank both Dr Richard Mayne and Dr Paul Johnson for their time and contributions to our board and look forward to their continued participation as special advisors to the CAHS. We would also like to highlight a recent update to the CAHS website. You may have noticed at the bottom of the CAHS main page – and the bottom of the CAHS eNL – that we not only list CAHS Museum Members and Corporate Sponsors, but we also identify friends of the CAHS. Andrea has updated our Friends section with the international aviation history organizations with whom we cooperate and/or exchange publications. Please check out these new additions, including Aviation Cultures, American Aviation Historical Society, Aviation Historical Society of Australia, Aviation Historical Society of New Zealand, The Great War Aviation Society, and Air Britain. One of our friends, the American Aviation Historical Society, is marking its 70th anniversary this year. You can find all the details about their celebrations, convention in October, and their newsletters on their website. As explained in last month’s eNL, we are making progress in the production of the Journals, with two issues being at the printers/mailing house right now, and with a few more projected to be mailed before the end of this year. News flash: Jim Bell has begun work on our 2027 National Convention in Shearwater, Nova Scotia. Updates will be posted on our website and future eNLs as they become confirmed. The Snowbirds Alumni Association has created an online petition regarding keeping the Snowbirds aerobatic team flying and not pausing until 2031. If you want to add your name and support, you can sign the petition here. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Canadian summer. Please check our website, and watch for eNLs, for more updates over the coming months. |

Wow - September is upon us, and so is the Back-to-School season. We have arranged discounted prices for two new books. The first is a children's book by Canadian historian and former CAHS President Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail. Flying High on PEI tells the story of Canada and Prince Edward Island's first transatlantic flight. The second is a book by Canadian author and former northern medevac nurse Kimberly Fraser. Wind Beneath Their Wings tells the story of the Cooking Lake airfield and the rich aviation history of the Edmonton region that surrounds it. Elevate Aviation's Elevating Leadership Experience is a 2.5-day immersive leadership intensive for women in aviation who want to deepen their leadership practice and become more intentional in how they lead. Set on Victoria's Inner Harbour, the experience creates space to step away from the pace of day-to-day work and focus on your leadership. Through facilitated discussion, coaching, practical exercises, and real-world application, participants will explore how they respond under pressure, challenge assumptions, strengthen communication and coaching skills, and practice new approaches to the leadership situations they face every day. With a small cohort of women from across aviation, the experience is designed to be highly interactive, reflective, and grounded in practice. A few spaces remain for September.
